Uh Guys ... The Current Browns Roster Is A Work In Progress

As the dust settles from the first week of NFL Free Agency and as we watched teams like the Vikings, Steelers (ugh!) and Patriots make major moves, we can't say the same for the Browns. The unofficial start was Monday which came and went without adding any players. Then in the middle of the night GM Andrew Berry finally signed someone ... a backup OT Cornelius Lucas (??) ... don't know much about him except that he's a massive 6'8" 320 lb Offensive Tackle. But hey at least they got on the board!

It's too early to tell what the plan is for Kenny Pickett but I will say, as much as I'm not a fan of this, Berry did find a way to get a cheap backup QB that might possibly start.

After all, or the lack there of, the first week acquisitions and getting all caught up in all the QB talk I realized that not only is the QB room pretty empty but there are A LOT of positions on this team that need to be addressed. So I took the time to look over the current Browns roster as it stands right now and it's ....

On offense there are ZERO impact players outside Jerry Jeudy. As it stands right now your starting QB is Kenny Pickett, RB is Jerome Ford. The Wide Receivers and Tight Ends have no depth behind Jeudy and David Njoku. The same still goes for the entire Offensive Line, there is still no depth behind a line that was constantly injured throughout last season.

Defensively it's about the same with Myles Garrett deciding that he'll just happily take the big bag of money and take his one way ticket from "Cleveland to Canton" .. put it on a t-shirt at this point.

I don't know what Andrew Berry has in the works and I don't know if he even can do much of anything as far as free agents are concerned but if he still has these illusions that the Browns can get back into playoff contention he better get moving because at this snail's pace the well is drying up quickly with not much of a roster that is still left to build.

Relying on drafting players to fill all these voids is a fool's game in my opinion.
